What is the blind spot of the eye?

The blind spot of the human eye is where the nerve endings of the photoreceptor cells covering the entire retina join the optic nerve. At this point on the retina there are no photo-receptors, so an image formed here cannot be detected by the brain, hence it is the named the blind spot.

Looking at a certain small object with the blind spot will cause nothing to be seen except a ‘filler’ image made by the brain.
