The galaxy we live in is called the Milky Way. What is the approximate shape of this galaxy?

 The Milky Way is a flat spiral galaxy. It has four spiral arms radiating out of the central cluster of stars. Our solar system is located on one of the spiral arms, quite far away from the centre.
